Our country only introduced TV in 1976,I was ecstatic when I heard she would be visiting my country (South Africa) for a series of concerts in 1968.I had started working at 13 after school, Saturdays and school holidays to help our mother with finances as did my older brother. But I started putting money away from my wages to go to her concert in my city. To cut a long story short the concert was something I will never forget I am now 71.On our way home we took the back streets as the fans had blocked the main road with their reveling. I saw Francoise outside her hotel with two others from her entourage, my friends and I crawled out of a moving VW Beetle leaving the driver perplexed, I got to talk to her in very bad French and she spoke equally bad English. I must say I began growing my hair at 15 and had a likeness to Francoise. Our early years too were very similar, though she did have contact with her father. I never got to meet my father, he deserted my mother shortly after my birth. I have a lot more to say about many issues concerning Francoise, I got married 2 years after she was here, and still happily married going on 51 years, that is where our stories differ.Helen Paizeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14175151658186654731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2861291335121798657.post-90412314124870219092012-11-15T23:42:32.049-08:002012-11-15T23:42:32.049-08:00This is such a nice comment -- I'm sorry for t...This is such a nice comment -- I'm sorry for the delayed reply! I love that felt like you could relate to the way I felt about Francoise Hardy. I appreciate how her existence contributed in some wonderful ways to my personal life, and I'm grateful for her contributions to music.Klara Tavakoli Goeschehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15477552306113383773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2861291335121798657.post-64044979187431082472012-07-13T02:41:21.133-07:002012-07-13T02:41:21.133-07:00I just found this blog through an image search and...I just found this blog through an image search and I was touched by what you wrote... in part because it's almost exactly how I feel about Françoise! I first started listening to her at a pretty strange time in my life and was both shocked and soothed that there was someone out there (even in another time) who seemed so much like me. I had the same experience of feeling like I could model myself after her, in part because I was already on the way. I'm glad there are other people who really appreciate her not just as a style icon (like a lot of bloggers out there) but as a true musician!Marnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2861291335121798657.post-46062007063575227432012-06-20T22:48:23.944-07:002012-06-20T22:48:23.944-07:00Thank you! :-)Thank you! :-)Klara Tavakoli Goeschehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15477552306113383773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2861291335121798657.post-54067577826297922172012-06-16T20:02:41.600-07:002012-06-16T20:02:41.600-07:00You are solid, and purely always yourself, influen...You are solid, and purely always yourself, influenced only by what you find magical and almost always very retro, but the REAL retro not the fake wanna-be retro of today!
